A Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, known as United for Zero Election Violence, UZV, has hailed the candidate of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for November 18, 2017 governorship election in Anambra State, Mr Oseloka Obaze, and chieftains of the party for advocating non-violent campaign and voters education. Founder and grand patron of the group, Chief Emeka Nwabueze, who spoke during the flag-off of PDP campaign in Onitsha and Awka,pleaded with the party faithful to stay away from violent related activities or comments, maintaining that such is healthy for the peaceful process of the election.
Nwabueze, who was Special Adviser on Science and Technology to former President George W. Bush of the United States of America, also lauded the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Garba Buba Umar, and other security agencies in the state for their co-operation. He called on candidates of other political parties in the race and their supporters to emulate the former PDP chairman and security agencies to preach peace and voter’s education and not delve in issues capable of generating violence on the electioneering process.
Also speaking, Nwabueze, co- founder of the NGO, Chief Chima Onwuzurulike, commended the PDP candidate for dishing out issue-based campaign instead of name-calling and hate comments, urging other candidates of other political parties to also emulate the PDP candidate.
