Now that governorship election is around the corner, voters in Anambra State have been charged to be wise by electing a leader who will use the enormous resources of the state for the development of all.
The charge was made last weekend by the Chaplain, Laity Council of Nigeria, Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, Rev. Fr Celestine Ejike Aniofor during the 2017 annual seminar of the organization held at the Shanahan Hall, Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
Fr. Aniofor, who frowned at the high level of deceit by politicians who fail to fulfill their campaign promises to the people, said it was time the electorate realised the enormous power of their votes which could be used to sustain or humiliate bad leaders out of office.
While cautioning the electorate against selling their votes for a fee, the Catholic cleric, noted that the seminar which was conducted just a few months to the Governorship Election was timely.
He warned politicians to use the enormous resources generated from the state and that of federal monthly allocation to impact on the welfare of the citizens.
While urging the participants to apply the lessons in their daily lives, the President of the Laity Council of Nigeria, Onitsha Catholic Archdiocese, Sir Don – Martins Ogbuefi reminded voters the need to use their votes wisely so as to encourage speedy development of the state.
Sir. Ogbuef,i who was delighted at the high level of participation at the seminar, counseled the participants to disseminate information gathered at the seminar for the maximum benefit of the people whose destiny lies on the type of governor that would be produced in the Governorship election.
Various speakers as the event spoke on topics bordering on societal issues and how they affect the people.
