AWKA – The Vice Presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, has said that he will unveil the road to Nigeria’s prosperity four days to the election.
Obi, who spoke with journalists in Awka on Tuesday before embarking on a road-show round Anambra State to urge massive turnout of voters, the formula is such that Nigeria will record tremendous growth without borrowing one kobo.
He said that it is obvious that the present administration has no capacity to run Nigeria and that is why every sector is collapsing and people are unhappy.
That also accounts for the numerous endorsements he and his presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are receiving, he added.
Obi re-emphasized that the 2019 general election is about Nigeria’s future so that nobody should stay aloof.
He said: “Compare the APC and PDP governments and ask yourself: are you better off today than then?
“We now have record insecurity. We have now moved from number-seven to number-three in insecurity after Afghanistan and Iraq and it should worry you.
“We have the highest number of poor people, over 90 million, which is 50 per cent of our population. Our unemployment rate is 21 million.”
Obi urged Nigerians to guard their democracy by being alert to free, fair and credible elections.
He recalled that his election as governor of Anambra State was rigged but it took the vigilance of Nigerians for him to reclaim his mandate.
He said:” Nigerians should be vigilant and guard democracy. The hardship in the country is for everybody to contend. People should be alert about free, fair and credible elections”.
Asked what he can do differently if voted into office, he said people should shake his record as Anambra governor.
