A public policy expert and the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Anambra 2017 elections, Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze, has decried the increasing number of out of school children in Nigeria. A Punch Newspaper report quotes Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) as saying that the population of Nigeria’s out-of-school children has increased from 10.5 million to at 13.2 million.
Reacting, Obaze, who has been a front line educational reform advocate said that the situation is a governance failure. His words; “So, So, Sad. Out of School Children in Nigeria increases from 10.5m to 13.2m’ Gross policy failure. We need to change the educational policy narrative.”
