The Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] candidate for the Anambra State governorship election, Mr Oseloka Obaze has declared that the incumbent governor, William Obiano, “must give full account of its stewardship, and management of state resources”.
Mr Obaze said this on Wednesday while he was a guest at AIT headquarter in Abuja.
Recall that Obaze was the Secretary to the State government under Obiano but resigned as soon as he realised that Anambra was headed for a doom under Obiano.
Now that election time is here, Mr. Obaze reckons that it is time Obiano gives account of adventures as the chief executive officer of the state for three and a half years.
Taking to his twitter handle, he wrote:
“I’m running for governor in part to end gross mismanagement of Anambra’s resources.
“The Obiano’s government must give full account of its stewardship.
“It must explain Anambra’s growing indebtedness.
“Anambra deserves better!”
The PDP candidate for the 2017 Anambra governorship election was part of the success story of the Peter administration which left behind a whopping 75 billion Naira surplus for Obiano.
The said surplus, however, was squandered by Obiano in less than two years, and today, according to the Debt Management Office [DMO], Anambra is neck-deep into an over 60 billion Naira debt.
Moreover, according to available statistics, over 80% of projects embarked upon by the Obiano administration were concentrated on his immediate community, Anambra North, or more precisely, his hometown, Aguleri.
Further evidences of flagrant nepotism also indicate that 90% of appointees of the current administration, ranging from SAs, to SSAs, heads of parastatals, etc., also come from the same area.
